October 2018 Monthly Meeting (Inactive)

Tulsa Country Club located at 701 North Union Ave, Tulsa OK

Our meeting this month is proudly sponsored by Big Elk Energy Systems.

Big Elk is manufacturer of various oil and gas pipeline equipment, specializing in custody transfer measurement and pipeline integrity systems. Big Elk was recently named by Inc. Magazine as the “Fastest Growing Manufacturer in America” with over $30 million in annual revenue and roughly 115 employees in less than 4 years. The company is led by a team and culture that is all about people. Big Elk drives a positive customer experience anchored in quality, consistency, and capacity. With a $2 million state-of-the-art coating facility, projects move quicker through the production process and are not hindered by the traditional delivery stumbling blocks that cost time and money.

In 2018, Big Elk launched M3 (Mobile Master Meter), a service that provides certified on-site verification of large volume gas meters. For the first time in the history of the industry, this allows pipeline operators to verify the accuracy of their cash registers in the field with lab-certified data, and thereby enabling them to reduce their financial exposure caused by inaccurate measurement. Details about their complete offerings can be found at www.bigelk.com

Our speaker this month will be Berne L. Mosley.

Mr. Mosley is the President of Energy Projects Consulting, LLC, a firm that advises clients on the various aspects involved with siting energy infrastructure projects. Previously, Mr. Mosley worked for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for 28 years, with his last position held being the Deputy Director of FERC’s Office of Energy Projects. This Office is responsible for processing applications for the construction and operation of natural gas pipeline, storage and LNG facilities, as well as hydroelectric projects. He is a recognized expert on FERC’s natural gas program, and has served as a technical adviser to numerous natural gas clients, as well as representing these clients in FERC matters. He has also been an expert witness on FERC-jurisdictional pipeline and storage matters in several court proceedings.

Mr. Mosley will present: (1) what FERC does; (2) why this is important to Oklahoma; (3) how the FERC approval process works; and, (4) how challenges to the approval process can cause delays by providing a brief case study on Dominion’s Atlantic Coast Pipeline.
